MESSAGE FROM WAYNE
***************************
Yesterday I received a copy of Ramesh's new book, Peace and Harmony in Daily Living and I was very impressed with both the content and the layout and design. It is a book that will particularly appeal to someone new to Advaita in that, as the title suggests, it approaches the Teaching from the standpoint of daily living. For the reader more familiar with Ramesh and his Teaching...it is simply a joy, vintage Ramesh presented with the deft touch of his latest editor, Susan Waterman. It was a pleasure to spend some time with the folks in Boulder last weekend and this weekend I will venture up to Ross in the San Francisco Bay Area where the Talks are always lively and the company eclectic to say the least.
Some photos from the Boulder Talks can be found under EVENT PHOTOS on the advaita.org website. ENJOY!!
With much love,
Wayne

NEW BOOK--------------
PEACE and HARMONY in DAILY LIVING by Ramesh S. Balsekar (edited by Susan Waterman)
This book is about facing life moment to moment while being anchored in tranquility. Ramesh points out that each one of us, at some time or the other, has a taste of the experience of peace and harmony. Here he shows how this state of constant repose can occur in the midst of our ordinary, hectic, daily living.
Ramesh points out that what usually disrupts the peace and harmony in life is a thought about something we think we - or someone else - should or shouldn't have done. Hence, a massive load of guilt and shame for oneself, or hatred and malice for the other, is perpetuated. Without a lot of arduous effort - work, discipline, sacrifice, sadhana - without outside assistance, but simply by investigating one's own experience, it is possible to get relief from this bondage. What mystics have said for ages, is here viewed from the perspective of modern living: that actions are 'happenings' and not something done by someone. This understanding is what actually contributes to discovering the state of equanimity and peace which we most ardently seek.
Nicely bound and printed in India. A beautifully presented volume.
Softcover, 290 pages $16

A LIVING GEM FROM RAMESH (previously unpublished)
It really seems such a pity that the spiritual seeking and ordinary daily living
are generally seen as contradictory to each other. Either one is not interested
in anything spiritual because one considers oneself to be too young to waste
time on such matters, or one shuns the beauties of this world in order to inherit
the glories of the next. It seems such a shame that people do not realize
that this world can itself be a heaven, a haven of peace and tranquility, if
only it is seen with opened eyes and alert senses. Indeed, one does not
have to leave this world to find divinity, either in thought or through bodily
death.
