Advaita Fellowship Chat

The chat room is open 24 hours a day. Understanding can come anytime and anywhere. Words, ideas, disciplines and practices are coincidental. At best, these are pointers to that which can not be encompassed and captured by the mind. The Chat may be full of ideas and concepts, or you may enter to find you are the only one around. Even an empty chat room can be a pointer.

Privacy statement: Please note that the chat room records transcripts. Recording chat room transcripts serves the same purpose as recording a satsang.  Transcripts serve members only and are not used for any other purpose.

Note that the chat room is upgraded. Go to java.com and update your browser with the latest Java

Chat room troubleshooting

Go  to java.com and update your browser with the latest Java

To ensure easy access to the chat room, we recommend upgrading to the latest version of your web browser. If you cannot access the Chat room, try upgrading your web browser, and read the following troubleshooting information before emailing the webmaster. Most users can easily connect. The Chat room functionality is tested everyday.

Note: WebTV browsers do not support Java Applets. This chat is a Java Applet. For WebTV users, no work around exists. Java is a memory intensive language which requires WebTV set-top-boxes to contain more memory. A more expensive set-top-box is required, so WebTV does not support Java.

Ensure that your computer is capable of running the chat software. Most likely your computer can run our chat software. Sometimes, an essential feature is unchecked or disabled in your browser, which may cause problems. You should ensure the Java™  option is enabled in your browser options.
If you are running a version of a Microsoft Windows, or a BSD/*NIX variant ™ and see only a broken link icon, you can download a copy of the Java™ Virtual Machine to run our application. You can download Java™ Support ( Sun Java™ Plug-in [for Netscape, Opera, MSIE, etc]) for your browser from the following URL:
http://www.java.com/

We recommend upgrading to the latest version of your web browser. Some browsers ( Netscape 5 and below) running on Macintosh platforms cannot run the software due to issues we cannot control. We recommend Macintosh users use Netscape 7.0, or MSIE 5.x.
Note that WebTV does not support Java™, so WebTV users cannot access the chat room.

Users behind firewalls may need to inform their local IT/network administrator to allow TCP connections on the port in use by SigmaChat.
Contact the webmaster to find out which server and port number are allocated to this chat room. The webmaster can find this information in the Help section of their chat room's control panel. SigmaChat generally uses ports 8000-8009 at client#.sigmachat.com, where # may be any integer.

Some AOL members report that the built-in AOL browser has difficulty connecting to our service, or does not load colors and emoticons correctly. To resolve this, minimize your AOL connection, and use the Internet Explorer browser that came with your operating system to access the chat room.
